1951 Daimler DB18 Consort

This car came to us in what was a semi running state. It would start drive but the only brakes was the hand brake.

The car had a lot of issues there were rust holes the size of you hand in the rear and most of the wood in the rear of the car had completely rotted away.

The body was completely removed from the chassis and the engine and gear box was also removed from the chassis so that the two parts of the project can be done at the same time depending on time availability and other work.

The entire rear skirt section of the car was rebuilt, both inner and outer skins were replaced and both corners were rebuilt by hand. All timber in the boot was replaced along with the spare wheel area and the boot mounts and steel guides.

All the floors were replaced and the chassis was restored back to useable and safe condition. All brakes were rebuilt along with the lever shock absorbers. The dash wiring has been replaced and the dash is nearing readiness for the walnut burr veneer to be applied.

This is an ongoing restoration as the time required meant it was always going to be a long term visitor to the workshop.
