1958 MGA
This car came in for a spring clean and a few small issues. But as normal once we inspected the car we found it had a few more issues than first thought. The paint on the car looked great from 5 feet away but once we started polishing it the defects in the paint became very apparent. When it was painted there was a large amount of water in the air line so the paint was completely covered in small bumps that would not polish out. Other issues that became apparent were all the brakes needed replacing, the master cylinder needed a rebuild, the clutch slave cylinder seals were completely shot.
So the decision was made to wet sand the entire car back to 2000 and then through the steps of 2500 and then 3000 before and cutter or polish was applied to the car. So with that said all exteriour fittings to the car had to be removed including the windscreen and all other chrome fixtures. Needless to say this has gone from a 20 hour build to many more hours.
The final outcome will be worth the effort as the client will have a car that is pristine and ready for the spring/summer season.
